Un des fondateurs du Constructivisme Russe (mouvement né en 1922 basé sur la géométrisation de l'espace), il est plus connu pour ses affiches utilisant des photomontages que pour sa photographie. One of the founders of the Russian Constructivism (1922 based on space geometry), he might be more famous for his posters with "photomontages" (using photography in drawings) than for his photography.
