Knowing one's morphology and what's suitable is essential to dress well (I've already spoken about colours in older posts). I've seen a lot of American website concerning this but little was written in French. So I'll be posting as soon as possible on this subject. But first, I was thinking about trousers (or pants as you wish), which are so difficult to find in the right fit. It's amazing how many types exists. So here are the results of my research.

The wide trousers: quite obvious

Cf Caroline Daily
Then the flare: It begins like a straight leg but at mid-tight flares out.

I'm not quite sure about the translation: "Cigarette trousers" Anyway, it's a narrow leg. No hips and slim legs are best for this type.

The straight leg, most classical style.

Cf. Caroline Daily
The slim : verry narrow leg. But what the difference with the skinny cut (remember top models wore them before)? The slim is too narrow to go over the shoes, the skinny is not. Guess that's why slims are often cut at the ankels.

S'appelle aussi Jodhpurs Wikipédia.
The riding trousers (or pants ;-)): perfect to show those saddelbags of! Sportwear of course. Also called Jodhpurs.

The bootcut: as it's name says, wider form the knees down in order to leave some space for boots. Great for balancing wider hips.

Palazzo pants (or trousers), no idea how to say this in french. Not pijama pants those are also wide but more straight cut.

Saroual: I think it was originaly used as underwear (well 19 c ladies wore also "pants" under their gowns - mostly in lace-). So this is a very wide one, thighter at the ankels (I've chosen a wearable example). Knee-lenght also exist.

Carpis: different lenght exists : at the knee, at the calf, 7/8th : between calf and ankel. Ok it show tiny ankels but it also shorten the legs.

Carrot pants: Wide on top and getting smaller, Shorter than ankel-lenght. So 80s.

pleated trousers (or men's trousers): love this style.
These are examples of the different types of trousers that exist. I hope I haven't missed one (just tel me if I have).
